ILLUSTRATION
ILLUSTRATION
Since 2021, I have been developing my skills in digital illustration, using Procreate and Photoshop to create whimsical yet contemporary artwork that tells a story. I most often work with themes including nature, folklore, fashion and nostalgia within my personal illustration, and have also sold my work in printed format.
Please click through the slideshow below to see some examples of my illustration. Two examples of client projects for Bloom & Wild and South Western Railway follow.
I was contacted by Bloom & Wild to provide two greetings cards designs to sell to their customers via their website. Working to a unique brief, I created both a birthday and generic card, refining the designs via rounds of feedback. I drew on details from the Bloom & Wild brand, incorporating their vase into the design. The cards are now on sale on their website and required knowledge of licensing, budget, working to tight deadlines, CMYK print-formatting, and responding to client feedback.

Winchester Creatives launched a competition sponsored by South Western Railway, seeking an uplifting poster design. Incorporating illustration and typography, my winning poster was displayed in Winchester train station to brighten up commuter journeys.

DIGITAL DESIGN
DIGITAL DESIGN
The majority of my role involves the ideation, design and build of various graphics and layouts for Oliver Bonas’ e-commerce website. Outcomes include homepage and landing page designs, banners, ads, social stories, content pieces, lookbooks and more. I create a variety of assets using various components, including photography, digital collage, graphics, illustration, animation, typography and UI/UX design.

DIGITAL DESIGN | OLIVER BONAS
“Emma possesses a creative eye that consistently stands out. She has a knack for pushing the boundaries and exploring innovative ideas. She can take a brief from content and produce something strong that sits on the site. Her ability to infuse creativity into her work and continuously generate new ideas has proven instrumental in how strong the website looks.”
— Team Member, Oliver Bonas
My commitment to bringing brand stories to life, enabled me to contribute to a unique project promoting a jewellery collaboration with the V&A. My responsibilities in this project included liaising with the Marketing department and working to their brief, and designing and launching all promotional graphics. I also produced a behind the design blog post about the collection, briefing the Jewellery team for assets through providing moodboards and photography direction. The article was featured online, and made available to in-store customers via QR code so they could learn more about the collection. This project required liaising with the V&A, responding to their feedback, and adhering to their brand guidelines as well as those of Oliver Bonas.
OLIVER BONAS | V&A JEWELLERY CAMPAIGN
To celebrate 30 years of Oliver Bonas, the business wanted to feature an interactive timeline sharing the history of the brand, in addition to other marketing activity. I was keen to be involved in this unique campaign and led the project through to completion. This involved sourcing and curating a variety of assets and archive material to create a timeline in collaboration with the founder and other departments including Marketing. I conducted extensive research, communicated with multiple sources to obtain facts, and briefed the Creative team for original illustrations, photography and video.
This project required presenting to various departments and maintaining communication across the business. I collaborated with the founder and head of Marketing to finalise structure of the timeline, and completed all designs, user journey and build of the pages. The timeline was then featured in PR materials and in stores via QR code, directing customers to learn more about the brand’s heritage. As a result of its positive reception from across the business and beyond, the timeline is now a permanent feature of the site, providing a useful asset in spreading brand awareness.
OLIVER BONAS | OB30 TIMELINE
“Emma’s dedication to her tasks and the projects she gets given shows that she is passionate about what she does. An example of this would be OB30, this turned out to be quite a challenging task with lots of different elements and issues. She worked really hard on it, and she should be proud of the work she did and how great it looked!”

Left: My re-design of the Join Us page
Above: Current Join Us page design
I identified the opportunity to re-design the recruitment journey on the Oliver Bonas website to bring the pages up to date and make them more engaging and reflective of the brand, as the current pages are dated and no longer represent Oliver Bonas’ visual identity.
I proactively led the entire project from start to finish, bringing together other departments, sourced assets and led presentations at various stages of the process to keep relevant parties informed. The pages were re-designed in collaboration with briefs from HR and Content, incorporating the needs of the two departments. The new designs will improve the user journey, incorporate consistent use of branding, layout and assets, as well as a cohesive use of graphics and animation to add interest to the pages. Content covered within this project includes all general business information, such as recruitment, EDI commitments and sustainability initiatives.
Please note, this re-design is due to go live later this month. In the meantime, you can view the draft ‘Join Us’ page by clicking the link below.

UI/UX
UI/UX
Whilst studying MA: Digital Media Practice (2021), I simultaneously integrated illustration with forms of digital media, from creative marketing communications to UI/UX design. I specialised in branding, advertising and marketing, to understand the importance of cohesive brand identity and visual communications across touchpoints.
I focussed my projects on core themes I am most passionate about, incorporating sustainability and nature themes into two app design projects. As part of these projects, I created original concepts, supported by extensive research, and produced my own designs, illustrations and interactive prototypes using Adobe XD.
UI/UX DESIGN | MA: DIGITAL MEDIA PRACTICE
MA DIGITAL MEDIA PRACTICE | MINDFULNESS APP ‘MOSS’
Moss is an interactive magazine in the form of a mobile application. Moss promotes sustainability, the environment and mindfulness through a variety of aesthetic, engaging mediums; including writing, photography, illustration, video and interactive gaming elements. The app features an adorable moss character, inspired by marimo moss balls.
“Throughout her studies, regardless of the task, Emma approached each project with the utmost professionalism and efficiency, the level of her MA work was continuously outstanding and never failed to impress. It’s been a pleasure working with Emma, she has been an inspiration to not only me but also to the other students in her cohort.”

MA DIGITAL MEDIA PRACTICE | FLORIST APP ‘TWINE’
Twine is a multi-functional mobile app that is a business and social tool for florists and British flower growers, as well as an e-commerce platform selling the best of seasonal British grown flowers directly to the consumer.
In addition to creating the concept, design and illustrations for this prototype, I also put together an integrated marketing campaign to explore how the app could be promoted.

PHOTOGRAPHY
I have provided photography and art direction for a range of independent musicians, small businesses, model portfolios and personal work. I oversee all aspects of the photography process, from concept to styling, model, location and prop sourcing, through to final image selection and retouch.

I am passionate about all things design, and enjoy picking up new creative skills to improve my practice. I aim to create whimsical yet contemporary storytelling; working with themes including nature, folklore, fashion and nostalgia through digital and traditional illustration, animation, photography and floral design. My other hobbies include collecting antiques, gardening, immersing myself in nature and learning about wildlife. If I'm not out walking my fluffy white Pomeranian poodle called Nacho in my free time, you'll often find me tending to my houseplant collection, or visiting an art gallery, museum or garden centre.
